Hyderabad: Coach Bharat Arun, who successfully guided the Hyderabad Ranji Trophy team to the elite group last season after a gap of four years, could replace MV Narasimha Rao as the next director of the Hyderabad Cricket Academy of Excellence (HCAE). The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) has decided not to renew Narasimha Rao’s contract which is to be expired this July.

“We will also consider two or three candidates for the post but most probably we may appoint Arun as the new director of the academy. We will double up him as director and as a coach of the Ranji team. He will accompany the Hyderabad senior team during the season as coach,’’ said a source.

Meanwhile, the committee has also decided to request Ambati Rayudu and left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha to return to the Hyderabad team. According to the apex committee members, the two players have in principle agreed to play for Hyderabad in the new season. Rayudu will even lead the team. The hard-hitting batsman played for Baroda before shifting to Vidarbha in the last season. Ojha has been playing for Bengal for two seasons now.
