Warangal Urban: A final year Civil Engineering student of National Institute of Technology(NIT), Warangal, reportedly committed suicide by jumping off the sixth floor of the hostel on Sunday.
The victim was identified as 22-year-old Sanketh Kumar Suryavamsi of Lathur district in Maharashtra.
Students, who saw him in a pool of blood, informed the college authorities who rushed him to a private hospital. Kumar succumbed to his injuries after about an hour. He suffered multiple fractures and a severe head injury, sources said.
They also said Sanketh earlier went to a private hospital in Subedari, Hanamkonda, as he was down with a fever. He returned to the hostel at around 12.30 pm and around 2 pm was found lying on the ground near the hostel.
Dean, Student Welfare, Dr SVS Ramana Reddy, however, said they had no idea about the cause of death. “We are investigating and it is not clear what actually happened,” he said. Kazipet Inspector L Ramesh Kumar said the body was shifted to MGM Hospital for a post-mortem examination. “We are investigating. We cannot say what happened right now,” he said.
Sources said Kumar cut his wrist before jumping off the building. It is said that he had a love affair. His parents are on their way to Warangal. Sanketh’s father Shatrughna is a professor in Nanded, Maharashtra.
