Hyderabad: After installing the typographical sculpture ‘Love Hyderabad’ at Tank Bund, which gained immense popularity among tourists and regular visitors, authorities are now eyeing other zones along the banks of Hussainsagar for development and introducing tourist-friendly facilities.

To this effect, the State government has directed the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) to come up with concrete plans.

There are a few pockets of barren lands near former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao ‘Jnana Bhoomi’ and Necklace Road, which has a huge potential for development into tourist hotspots.

Authorities are exploring the possibilities of improving landscaping and other recreation facilities at such locations and identify other places around the lake. “We will be seeking the services of an expert in preparing the plans and the same would be presented to the government for approval,” said a senior official from HMDA.

The Love Hyderabad type of sculpture has been a big hit with people, especially youngsters. Many people throng Tank Bund to take ‘selfies’ in front of the sculpture and have fun.

Already, HMDA is operating Lumbini Park, NTR Gardens and Sanjeevaiah Park around the lake. Now, authorities want to extend more recreational facilities for visitors at different locations around the lake.

Emphasis would be laid on beautification and reducing pollution in the lake. To reduce pollution, a few treatment plants are being operated and more such plants would be installed soon, he added.
