Hyderabad: Locking your house and leaving the city to celebrate the three-day Sankranti vacation? It will be wise to inform the nearest police station, where a ‘Locked Houses’ register will be maintained.
During such festivals where several families lock homes and go out of the city, burglars strike at will. The City Police have been on an overdrive over the last one month, trying to get the public take necessary measures to keep burglars at bay.
Awareness campaigns across the commissionerates in Hyderabad, Rachakonda and Cyberabad, meetings with heads of local gated communities, residential colonies and apartments and residents’ associations are now being carried out, to focus on how locked houses remain out of bounds for burglars.
“The campaigns focus on telling residents that they carry valuables with them, or store the same in a secure place or with relatives.
Besides this they are also asked to inform the nearest police station and their neighbours as well that they would be out of town,” N Bujana Rao, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kukatpally, said.
