MIT boys crowned cricket champions

Hyderabad: MIT, Pondicherry emerged champions defeating hosts SR Engineering College, in the final of 15th SR Champions Trophy in Warangal on Wednesday.

Batting first, host side SR College managed to post a paltry 97 runs with MIT, Pondicherry’s Lanjoyon being spoilsport collecting three wickets. In reply, Jaya Kumar of MIT hit a 46-ball 41 to steer his side to victory.

GITAM Hyderabad got the better of CBIT Hyderabad as they recorded a thrilling ten-wicket victory over the latter to finish third.

Vasu (3/11) of GITAM was in excellent form as he struck three wickets to bundle out CBIT who came in to bat first for a mere 70 runs. GITAM secured the win with 8.4 overs remaining at hand. For GITAM opener Kaushik top scored with his unbeaten 33 runs.

P Rohith from the runners-up side won the man of the series while Jaya Kumar who won the game for MIT grabbed the man of the final award.
