Minister’s son, nine activists of TRS booked

Police registered a case against Premender and others following a complaint from family members of the activist, Katepalli Thirupathi Reddy.

Adilabad: Forest and Environment Minister Jogu Ramanna’s son Premender and nine activists of the TRS party were booked under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for alleged murder of a Congress activist, Adilabad DSP A Laxminarayana said on Monday.

Police registered a case against Premender and others following a complaint from family members of the activist, Katepalli Thirupathi Reddy.

On Sunday, Congress leaders and activists staged a dharna at Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, carrying the body of Thirupathi Reddy. They alleged that Reddy ended his life due to harassment by Premender. The protesters damaged window panes of the mortuary. They found fault with police for registering a case against Thirupathi Reddy under the SC, ST atrocities Act.

Former district Congress Committee president C Ramachandra Reddy said Thirupathi Reddy was murdered. He charged that police booked a case against Thiruputhi Reddy following instructions from the Minister. The Congress activists They staged rasta-roko and demanded intervention of the Collector and SP. They withdrew their protest after being assured by SP M Sreenivas.
