Nalgonda: District Collector Gaurav Uppal appealed to the farmers to reduce the usage of chemical fertilizer and adopt organic farming methods that would protect the fertility of the soil.

Speaking at the World Soil Day celebrations in Udhyaditya Bhavan in Nalgonda, the district Collector reminded participants that the over usage of chemical fertilizer would reduce the soil fertility, consecutively leading to the decline of crop production.

He assured farmers that necessary help would be extended to them, if they come forward to take up organic cultivation by forming mandal units.

Stating that water would be released from Nagarjuna Sagar project for irrigated dry crops, he informed that the government was yet to take a decision on the dates to release the water.

Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukender Reddy, joint director of agriculture Narsimha Rao, deputy director of horticulture Sangeetha Lakshmi and others also attended the meeting.
