Hyderabad: For the first time, as many as hundred minority students of Telangana will get free Civil Services coaching in topnotch institutes.
The Minority Welfare Department in association with the Centre for Educational Development of Minorities (CEDM) has entered into an MoU with three well-known coaching institutes such as Brain Tree, R C Reddy and Hyderabad Study Circle to impart intensive coaching.
The students selected through screen tests will be handed over admission cards by Deputy Chief Minister, Muhammed Mehmood Ali, at the Secretariat on Thursday. Classes for the batch of 100 students are expected to commence by next week. These students are selected through a screen test. The government has allocated a sum of Rs 1.70 crore towards Civil Services coaching, including the free reading material worth Rs 3,500 supplied to each student.
The idea is to empower students belonging to minority communities and prepare them for competitive examinations so that their participation in government jobs improves. CEDM has been offering free Civil Services coaching for the Prelims since 1991 without much success. Now, it has been decided to rope in top institutes to impart both Prelims and Mains coaching.
