Visakhapatnam: Thanks to the step of demonetisation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the incidents of terrorism and hawala transactions had came down by half, observed Union Minister of State for Personnel, North Eastern States Affairs and Atomic Energy, Jitendra Singh.

Talking to media persons here on Monday, the minister who was here to participate in the 20th National Conference on e-Governance, said that after demonetisation, the terrorist activities in Kashmir, Chattisgarh and othr places had come down by 60 per cent and this was mainly due to non-availability of adequate cash with those elements. The neighbouring Pakistan which was running two printing press units to print Indian (fake) currency, had to close them down, he claimed. The terrorists organised their activity with fake currency, he added.

Dr. Jitendra Singh said that after Narendra Modi Government came into power, several major decisions were taken for the benefit of the youth and abolition of interviews at the level of junior offiers and personnel was one of them. They could apply by self-assessment for which the policies were simplified, he added. He also said that Visakhapatnam city would soon have a hospital where all the transactions would be cashless.
