Crackdown continues on encroachments

Hyderabad: Continuing its drive against on unauthorised buildings, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) on Thursday demolished 11 buildings and scrapped three layouts in different areas in its limits.

Four special teams constituted by the HMDA demolished the structures in Puppalguda, Nizampet, Boduppal and Jalpally in Balapur mandal. The HMDA has been continuing the drive since last six days and authorities said it would be continued for the next few days.

Meanwhile, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) too continued demolition of unauthorised constructions and cleared encroachments in different areas of the city. Tension prevailed for a while in Brindavan Colony at Shaikpet, when GHMC authorities cleared a few encroachments in the locality. Some private establishments had installed stalls and occupied pavements by placing power generators.

Likewise, encroachments were cleared on the Ek Minar masjid to Darusalam stretch and at Asif Nagar in Kummarwadi. Unauthorised constructions in the second and third floors of a private building in HUDA Sai Nagar at Hayathnagar were demolished by the officials.
