Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh DGP N Sambasiva Rao warned the fans associations of the Telugu movie industry’s big stars — megastar Chiranjeevi and Yuvaratna Nandamuri Balakrishna — apart from the organisers of traditional cockfights in the State, during a review meeting held with all the district Superintendents of Police and city Commissioners on Saturday in Vijayawada, regarding law and order situation during the forthcoming Sankranti festival.

The DGP said the police would take serious action against the fans associations if they organise any rallies or other public events without taking prior permission. “Without permission, we won’t allow any rally.”

Rao warned them that the police will not tolerate any indiscipline during the release of Chiranjeevi’s 150th film ‘Khaidi No 150’ and the 100th one of Balakrishna, ‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’.

The DGP also made it clear that the police would act “very tough” if cockfights or any other illegal activities were held in the State during the Sankranti festival.

There is a need to focus on law and order on this great occasion, Rao added.
